The holidays are officially here! This time of year brings us a wonderful opportunity to connect with family and friends. On the contrary, we even have the chance to re-connect with those we may not get along with so well.
Nonetheless, there always seems to be a contagious, warmhearted feel good healing energy that takes over during the month of December.
You can Almost Smell the Unity in the Air
Without a doubt, unity is present in abundance during the holidays. As a result, people are more inclined to give generously. Consequently, we usually see an increase in volunteering and community outreach, which are typically not present during the rest of the year.
In light of the unity experienced, this Holiday season I invite you to extend that good feeling beyond New Year’s Day… and even throughout all of 2017. Surprisingly just the simple act of asking someone in distress if they would like your support goes a really long way. Even if the person declines, their day will be brightened and their soul will be ignited. The person will know that at the very least, you cared enough to ask – which means the world to some people.
Forgiveness, Acceptance, and Acknowledgement – The 3 Greatest Gifts You Could Ever Give
I also invite you to re-connect with a family member or friend that you may have not talked to or seen in a long time. Maybe even consider reaching out to someone that you’re not on good terms with.
You never know… you just might repair a broken relationship. For this reason, a phone call or even an email or text to let that person know you still care can have a significant impact on the relationship. After all, you reaching out can actually cause a breakthrough for that person. In fact, they may be filled with happiness knowing they are still in your heart and on your mind.
Differences that cause broken relationships are insignificant. Additionally, we must appreciate the privilege we have to live our life with the people we love dearly. Doing so can cause incredible healing to occur. Differences can be rectified by the simple act of effective communication. Check out these 9 helpful tips to develop or improve effective communication here.
The Time of Year to Reach Out and Reconnect
We’re blessed beyond belief and most of the time, we take it for granted. You never know what tomorrow will bring, so why not let that person know you still care? Sometimes the simple act of forgiveness can resolve issues that caused a breakdown of the relationship in the first place.
Make no mistake about it – people’s lives can be transformed through the healing power of your love. I’ve certainly witnessed it many times in my coaching practice. Life is too short to stay mad at the people you love!
Acknowledging someone in your life can open up possibilities never imagined. Many people are sad and alone (or lonely) during the holidays. Therefore, your effort to re-connect could make a significant impact on their life.
Similarly, as Ghandi said – “Be the change you wish to see in the World”.
‘Tis the Season to Let Go of Judgments
Holding grudges and having resentment with people is highly toxic to your body. Comparatively speaking, it’s like holding on to mental and emotional poison. Consequently, when the poison is released, it can cause physical illness and disease to manifest.
Therefore, letting go of judgments and seeing the good in people can have a huge positive impact on YOUR overall health. When you judge someone, just remember you’re looking at a mirror and that person is reflecting something you don’t like or accept about yourself.
The Transformative Stocking Stuffer for the Season
Believe it or not, this article barely even scratches the surface with regard to the healing power of love. To clarify, healing broken relationships is a key element of the approach I take in my one-on-one health coaching sessions.
In order to fully understand how healing can be present beyond the holidays, I highly recommend checking out my book, Transformative Nutrition. In my book, I share all the tools and tips I learned over the course of the last 15 years. Ultimately, it’s like having my entire coaching program in action.
Live in Peace, Love and Harmony!
As you’re enjoying holiday dinner feasts, football marathons, and gift exchanging parties, please remember to stay balanced. Again, it’s important to manage the stress associated with shopping, arranging family gatherings, and meal preparation.
Regardless of how you celebrate the holidays or what your beliefs are about the origin of the various celebrations around the world, there is one common universal message: Live in peace, love, and harmony.
